I visited the Lancaster area after reading it was the largest Amish community in the U.S. second only to those in Ohio. I didn’t know exactly where to go to “experience” something Amish. Essentially I wanted to see how they lived and worked for example; so I headed toward a place called Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA (Feel free to take a moment to giggle). Kitchen Kettle Village is a great place to spend the day with shops, dining, and entertainment in the heart of Amish country!
Intercourse is a cute little town, surrounded by Amish farms and filled with charm. The shoulders of the roads are extra wide to accommodate the Amish buggies and children on scooters. This is truly a great place to experience how the Amish live. Just down the road in Bird-in-Hand, PA, we took a buggy ride at Aaron & Jessica’s Buggy Rides, which was truly the highlight of our visit.
