Diocletian's Palace, located in Split, Croatia, was built for the retirement of third century Roman Emperor Diocletian. The limestone palace walls and ruins house Splits old town which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Enjoy, as I did, spending hours wandering the narrow streets and alleyways, exploring, shopping, people watching over coffee, and taking in the sea vistas and mountain backdrops while basking in its fascinating history and culture.
