Split is Croatia’s second largest city, located on the Adriatic coast with a remarkable history and an abundance of sights. With much to do and see in Split, your itinerary will depend on the amount of time you have. There are many museums, galleries, churches, parks, markets and much more to explore.
Split is home to Diocletian's Palace, a Roman Emperor in the third century. The limestone palace walls and ruins house Splits old town which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Enjoy, as I did, spending hours wandering the narrow streets and alleyways, exploring, shopping, people watching over coffee, and taking in the sea vistas and mountain backdrops while basking in its fascinating history and culture. Also, you must also make time during your trip to travel south to Dubrovnik (you’ll thank me later).
