Leland is located in the Leelanau Peninsula, just a short and scenic drive northwest of Traverse City, Michigan. The downtown is a small, walkable area with cute shops, boutiques, and galleries where you can find local products, gifts, apparel and more. Not to mention, the tree lined streets and Lake Michigan vistas make for relaxing time. At the edge of Lake Michigan along the Carp River just a few steps west of downtown is Historic Fishtown. Fishtown is a small village of shanties that are now shops, restaurants, an Inn, and is an adorable place to spend time.
There are several restaurants to choose from near the downtown area in Leland. The Cove which is in Fishtown behind the Leland Mercantile Co. is known for its seafood chowder and has a great view overlooking the Carp River and Lake Michigan. The Bluebird Café also has a river view and this was the first pea and peanut salad I’ve had, delicious.
