Martinique – Eastern Caribbean Island
Date: 7/20/2009 5:28:51 AM Category: General

Martinique is an enchanting eastern Caribbean island and a region of France which accounts for the Caribbean charm with European flair. Interestingly, Trois Ilets, Martinique is the birthplace of Napoleon’s bride, Josephine and is a popular place to visitor among tourists.

From the Port of Fort de France, I took a narrated cab ride inland to some of the lush tropical rain forest and then visited my first black sand beach created by the 1902 Mt. Pelée volcano eruption. The beautiful contrast of beach, mountain, city, culture, and history is truly one that must be experienced. Martinique is a destination that I will remember fondly and hope to visit again and again.
