For a getaway, we drove up from Florida to Northeast Georgia to a town called Helen. Helen is an Alpine town with a quaint feel and a great place for a long weekend. Located on the Chattahoochee River, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Helen offers wonderful scenery, attractions, recreation, shopping, dining and more. Just outside of town is the Unicoi State Park where we rented a totally reasonable barrel cabin complete with a fireplace and cable TV (for those who like to rough it).
