Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

As a first time visitor to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in Carlsbad, New Mexico, we chose to tour the Big Room which is considered a must see for all visitors.  We embarked on the one mile self-guided tour with the audio accompaniment and chose to take the elevator ride down. As you follow the path you’ll pass many of the great and famed features including Bottomless Pit, Giant Dome, Rock of Ages, and Painted Grotto. It’s a pretty good bet that everyone who visits will be impressed and awed with the Carlsbad Caverns. Also, if you stick around into the evening you can see the nightly show when the free-tail bats exit their caves to hunt for dinner.
