Golden General Merchandise Store – Golden, New Mexico
Date: 7/14/2009 2:29:22 AM Category: New Mexico

If you travel the historic Turquoise Trail between Santa Fe and Albuquerque you will stumble upon the ghost town of Golden, NM. Golden has an interesting history which includes the Golden General Merchandise Store opened in 1918; interestingly, this general store is still in business today, in fact the only business in town that operates. If you pass through Golden, NM you must stop at the General Merchandise store. The day I visited I had the pleasure of witnessing a Navajo woman trading her jewelry and goods. I also found the best deals on turquoise here as well as other gifts and treasures, while chatting with the original owners.

Golden, NM is located on the Turquoise Trail (NM 14), approx. 10 miles north of the Sandia Park Junction
